At last count, I owned 147 quilts….. 114 made by me, 26 made by my Mom, Grandmother and Great -Grandmother, and 7 given to me by others!!
Fortunately, most of them are wall-hangings or lap quilts, but there are 20+ that are full size quilts.

I have used this process on all of my larger quilts, but it has become completely overwhelming……
And do you see the stack on the floor to the right?
Those are ones that I have no place for, including my “Best of Show” quilt!!
The other day, I heard someone talking about laying quilts out on an unused bed and I got to thinking….
I have TWO unused beds, one of which is hidden away in a bonus room, so why not use that one.
I got to work…….
…and thirteen quilts later, I was back where I started.
I am thrilled with this idea and love that the quilts will be flat and well protected!!
I kept out a few of the larger quilts that I use in workshops or as backgrounds when I am doing a Guild Program via Zoom.
I re-rolled everything that was left and LOVE all of the extra room that I have in my closet…..
And no….this isn’t all of my quilt storage!! I also have a ladder in my upstairs hallway, a pie safe for my smaller wall quilts, and 10 or so on the walls throughout my house…..
My plan is to start selling some of them, giving some away to charity work, and generally clearing things out a bit.
But let’s be honest, I am most excited that I now have more room to store my upcoming quilts…. BEST GET BUSY!!
