Even Chihuly has issues!!

I love Chihuly glass!!

One of the only pieces that I have ever seen in person was at Houston, in the Hilton Hotel across the street from the International Quilt Festival……

Even amongst all of the quilts that I see, this is always a favorite view!!

So, when I was scrolling through Facebook Reels (yes I do that too), I came across a documentary about the making of one of his collections.

The really interesting part about the program is that he talks about the problems that he had with the new collection and how he solved those issues.

If you have a few minutes, be sure to check it out (Click on the photo to go to the website)….

It is well worth your time!!

A-lofty inspiration

As you know, I am always in the market for another good inspiration!! Mind you, I will NEVER be able to USE all of these inspirations, but….just like fabric….they are fun to collect!!

A few weeks back, Michael and I were in Dallas, Texas at the Aloft Hotel. The Aloft group advertises their design as being “music inspired”, although this one had a “warehouse” look with concrete ceilings!!

Now normally I post photos of hotel carpets but I found something different this time.

While waiting for the elevator, I looked up at the ceiling and saw this brilliant light cover…..

How is THAT for inspiration!!

Pantone Color of the Year

At the end of 2021, I learned about the “Pantone Color of the Year”. For 2022, it was a lovely Periwinkle and I used it to begin picking fabrics for this quilt…

Needless to say, I was anxiously awaiting the revelation of the 2023 Color of the Year, and I was NOT disappointed.

It is the very exciting VIVA MAGENTA….

I immediately started looking thru some of our travel photos, trying the match the color to Viva Magenta…..

and found these beauties……

And look at these two for a contrasting color to add in……

….or this one for a darker Magenta to add to it……

Now I cant wait to get into my stash and see what I can come up with!!

Is this a color that you would ever use???

Pantheon

Normally, when there is a hole in the roof, it means that something is wrong.

But at the Pantheon in Rome, it is all part of the architecture!!!

I could spend hours in this round building, watching the sun as it moves across the dome, slowly changing the shadows in each of the alcoves!!

If there ever was an inspirational building, this is it!!!!
