Summit Recap – Day 2

Well, as I expected, day two of the “Conquer Your Fabric Scraps” Summit has been wonderful.

I learned…..

  • how to take one block and set it SO many ways to make quilts that all look different!!
  • how to use my TINY pieces to make a fun mosaic quilt (I am currently plowing thru my “dog bed” bin to find pieces that I want to save!!)
  • how to easily choose fabric for my scrap quilts, starting with organizing and evaluating!!
  • that I can sew a few strips together and then WEAVE them for a great design. Again….WHO KNEW!!
  • that it is okay to PLAY… really?? That doesn’t sound right!!
  • how to use a Korean piecing technique to make a window wall hanging that looks like stained glass….doesn’t that sound fun!!

My favorite thing that I heard was from Jenny Grover.…..she reminded me to ask “What is the worst thing that can happen???”

This was a great reminder for me!!

So, two days are done, and there are two more to go. Please consider joining me for these FREE classes….

Finally, I have written a pattern for the quilt that I used in my summit talk. Be sure to check it out!!

The summit is SO much fun

Yes, you are getting a second post from me today.

The reason is that I want you to know how great the Conquer Your Fabric Scrap Summit has been. I watched the classes released yesterday and learned about….

  • using sashing as a design element in my scrap quilts
  • using scraps to make a Kawandi style quilt
  • color tools to make scraps more manageable
  • how to make a reversible placemat using scraps
  • how to quiet the inner critic when you are getting started with scraps

AND

  • How to use your sewing machine to “English Paper Piece” with your scraps

WHO KNEW that you could do them on the machine!!

Suffice it to say that the rest of my afternoon was gone as I played with this idea and, look what I did…..

Today’s classes look great as well, and please don’t miss my presentation with tips and techniques to help you actually get your scrap quilts FINISHED!!!

It is entirely FREE and I urge you to sign up and enjoy….

I LOVE Spiral Quilting

Today I want to quilt the interior of the charity quilt that I showed you on Sunday.

BUT, I want to try something that I have never done before…..quilting BIG spirals. And the really great thing is that I ran across a YouTube video about doing this exact thing!!

Here is my version…..

If you are reading on email, you can use this link to go directly to the video….. https://youtu.be/DPipEMyB0Cg

Isn’t this quilting fun……

Come back on Friday and I will show you the border quilting…..it was FAST and FUN too!!

A few more leftovers!!

As I finished up the 2-inch scrap quilt that I showed yesterday, I ended up taking off two rows.

WHAT TO DO WITH THEM??

Make 3 more rows, turn them into columns and make it into a charity quilt!!

Keeping coming back this next week and I will tell you about the finishing on this quilt, including some fun spiral quilting.

And spoiler alert…..there were a few surprises AND a few issues!!

Aren’t there always???

.

Remember that the Scrap Summit starts in FOUR days……Don’t miss out!!
